The republican scientific conference was held on the topic “South Caucasus studies: current situation, problems and prospects” on October 23 in the Central Scientific Library of ANAS under the organization of the Institute of the Caucasus Studies of ANAS. The conference was opened by Ramila Dadashova, Doctor of Political Sciences, Associate Professor, and Acting Director of the Institute of the Caucasus Studies. The national anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was sounded. The dear memory of martyrs was commemorated with a minute of silence. Vice-president of ANAS Govhar Bakhshaliyeva spoke at the conference. She noted that the Azerbaijani state is experiencing the brightest period in its history under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev during the period of independence. According to her, it is important to study the realities that emerged in the South Caucasus after the victory achieved under the leadership of Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev. Ramila Dadashova, Doctor of Political Sciences, Associate Professor, acting director of the Institute of the Caucasus Studies, spoke about the activities of the Institute of the Caucasus Studies and provided information about its events and publications. 39 scientists and researchers from a number of institutes of ANAS, educational institutions and scientific organizations operating in Azerbaijan presented reports at the conference. The reports were discussed in 3 sections. The reports examined the research of strategic analytical centers on the Caucasus in individual states, including the activities of research centers on the Caucasus in the USA, Japan, European countries, Russia, Turkey, Iran, Israel, Georgia, and Armenia. The reports also analyzed the works of scholars who contributed to the study of the Caucasus in Azerbaijan. At the same time, research conducted in foreign countries has also examined the issues of studying individual problems of the Caucasus. Finally, a final evaluation was conducted. It should be noted that since 2017, the Institute of the Caucasus Studies has held 3 international forums of Caucasian scholars, 3 international and 8 republican scientific conferences, and published articles and abstracts. The Institute's scientific-theoretical journal “Caucasus Studies” published in three languages is included into two international indexes. The institute's website (www.caucasusstudies.az) operates in Azerbaijani, Russian and English languages.
