A round table was held dedicated to the commemoration of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev at the Institute of the Caucasus Studies of ANAS. The round table was opened by Ramila Dadashova, Doctor of Political Sciences, Associate Professor, and Acting Director of the Institute. First, the dear memory of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev was commemorated with a minute of silence. Ramila Dadashova, Doctor of Political Sciences, Associate Professor, and Acting Director of the Institute, delivered a report on the topic "Great leader Heydar Aliyev as the founder of peace and security in the Caucasus." She grouped and analyzed the contributions of Heydar Aliyev, the founder of the Republic of Azerbaijan, a great statesman and political figure, and the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, in state-building and interstate relations, as well as in the establishment of peace and security in the Caucasus. She noted that the rapid development of Azerbaijan in 1993-2003 laid the foundation for today's political processes. Today, the policy of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev is continued by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and the people of Azerbaijan have become even more closely united around the policy of Heydar Aliyev and his ideas. Fulfilling the will of the National Leader, President Ilham Aliyev further strengthened the economy and army, as well as interstate relations. Under the Supreme Command of President Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani Army expelled the Armenian armed forces from the territories they occupied as liberating of the 44-day Patriotic War. On September 19, 2023, Armenian terrorists were eliminated as a result of an anti-terrorist operation. Sovereignty was ensured in the country. Today, world powers are reckoning with Azerbaijan on many issues. Azerbaijan is a leading state in the Caucasus. It puts forward projects, is a leading state in projects, chaired a large organization such as the Non-Aligned Movement, which includes 120 states, and successfully chaired the COP 29, which was held in Baku in 2024. Then, the scientific secretary of the Institute of Caucasian Studies, Ph.D. in Psychology, Assoc. Prof. Sudaba Huseynova, and department heads, Doctor of History, professor Gasim Hajiyev, Ph.D. in Philosophy, Assoc. Prof. Vahid Omarov, Ph.D. in History, Assoc. Prof. Elnur Kelbizade, Ph.D. in Political Science, Samira Habibbeyli, spoke at the event about the work done by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev to strengthen national unity and turn the ideology of Azerbaijanism into a leading factor, and about the Caucasus policy.
