The Institute of the Caucasus Studies of ANAS presented its report for 2024
The Institute of the Caucasus Studies of ANAS presented its report on the results of its scientific and scientific-organizational activities in 2024. Ramila Dadashova, Doctor of Political Sciences, Associate Professor, and acting director of the Institute, gave a detailed report. She emphasized that in 2024, the institute conducted 18 research projects on 3 scientific directions, 4 problems, and 5 topics. The problems studied included the internal political and socio-economic problems of the Caucasus states, interstate relations in the Caucasus, and the regional policy of foreign countries. In the reporting year, the institute presented three important scientific results. A book titled "Ilham Aliyev and the Beginnings of Independent Azerbaijan (2003-2024)" has been published written by corresponding member of ANAS, Professor Musa Gasimli. The monograph examines, based on sources, the factors influencing the formation of President Ilham Aliyev's views on independent statehood, the main tasks facing the Azerbaijani nation in 2003-2024, the firsts in the history of Azerbaijan, the election of the Republic of Azerbaijan as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council and its chairmanship, its transformation into a reliable transport, communication and transit center, bringing new dynamism to the Turkic world, membership in the Space Club, the use of "soft power", the adoption of the law on ex-presidents, the full establishment of Azerbaijan's state sovereignty throughout the country, the working style of President Ilham Aliyev, and other issues. A book titled "Heydar Aliyev: A Conceptual View of Azerbaijan-Turkey Relations" by Ramila Dadashova, Doctor of Political Sciences, Associate Professor, has been published. A book titled "Republic of Azerbaijan - Georgia Relations" written by Samira Habibbeyli, PhD in Political Science, has been published. Also in the reporting year, a book titled “Georgian-Armenian Relations: Establishment, Current Status and Problems” was published, written by the Head of the North Caucasus Department, Doctor of Philosophy, Assoc. Prof. Vahid Omarov, Naziya Mammadova, and Nigar Mustafayeva.
In the book "The Armenian Community in the Krasnodar and Stavropol territories of the Russian Federation" written by PhD in Economics, Assoc. Prof. Liliya Mirzazade, Gunay Feyziyeva, and Shahnaz Rahimova, the history, demographic situation, socio-economic, and political conditions of the Krasnodar and Stavropol territories of the Russian Federation are examined using various sources.
It was noted that in the reporting year, in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on declaring the city of Shusha the "Cultural Capital of the Islamic World" for 2024, an international scientific conference was held on the topic "A city that enriches Islamic culture: Shusha", on April 25 2024, with the participation of researchers from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Russia, Georgia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Pakistan. On October 23, 2024, republican scientific conferences were held on the topic of "South Caucasus Studies: Current Status, Problems and Prospects" and on November 6, 2024, on the topic of "The Personality Factor in Interstate Relations in the South Caucasus: From History to the Present Day" with the participation of researchers from Azerbaijan, Turkey and China. The institute's employees have published 1 book and 1 teaching and methodological manual, 158 articles and theses abroad (United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland), 10 books and 1 teaching and methodological manual in Azerbaijan. 55 of them were published in foreign countries - Turkey, Russia, Georgia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Czech Republic, Norway, Brazil, Albania. In addition, 6 articles were published in impact factor journals (Doctor of Political Sciences, Assoc. Prof. R.Dadashova - 1, PhD in History, Assoc. Prof. E.Kelbizade - 1, PhD in History G.Musayeva - 1, F.Shukurova-Babayeva - 1, Shahnaz Rahimova - 1).
Scientists and researchers from Turkey, Iran, Russia, Indonesia, Slovakia, Ukraine, Norway, Uzbekistan, Czech Republic, Cuba, Georgia, Armenia and other countries cited the works of the institute's employees 77 times (M. Gasimli – 34, R. Dadashova – 13, S. Huseynova – 1, G. Hajiyev – 2, E. Kalbizadeh – 14, S. Habibbeyli – 5, G. Musayeva – 3, Y. Bakhshiyeva – 5). The next issue of the scientific-theoretical journal "Caucasus Studies", has been published in Azerbaijani, Russian and English, which has received an International Standard Serial Number from the Institute of Caucasus Studies of ANAS and is included in two international indexes (SAJI, Citefactor). The editor-in-chief is a corresponding member of ANAS, professor Musa Gasimli, and the executive secretary is PhD in History Gunel Musayeva. A collection of articles entitled "Current Problems of Caucasus Studies" has been published. This year, the institute held 14 round tables, 5 scientific seminars and 1 book presentation.
Corresponding member of ANAS, professor Gorkhmaz Imanov and doctor of philosophy in philology, associate professor Zumrud Mansimova attended the meeting and also got acquainted with the exhibition of the institute's publications. The work done was highly appreciated.
