Round table and presentation of books devoted to the day of remembrance of great leader Heydar Aliyev were held at the Institute of the Caucasus studies
According to the Order of the president of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on declaring 2023 the “Year of Heydar Aliyev” in the Republic of Azerbaijan” dated September 29, 2022, the Institute of Caucasus studies of ANAS held a round table dedicated to the day of remembrance of the great leader Heydar Aliyev and a presentation ceremony of published books. First of all, the memory of national leader Heydar Aliyev was commemorated with a minute of silence. The director of the institute the corresponding member of ANAS, professor Musa Gasimli opened the meeting. He said that three books and a conference material were published in the year of great leader Heydar Aliyev. For the first time, in the book “Haydar Aliyev and Caucasus Problems” written by corresponding member of ANAS, professor Musa Gasimli, PhD in History, Associate Professor Elnur Kalbizade, PhD in History Gunel Musayeva, PhD in political science Samira Habibbayli, the attitude and activity of great leader Haydar Aliyev towards the problems of South Caucasus was studied on the basis of prestigious source and literature in various languages. In the book, based on the multi-volume “Our independence is eternal” collection of speeches and interviews of Heydar Aliyev, his views on Caucasus issues, the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict created as a result of Armenia's military aggression against Azerbaijan, as well as the peaceful political settlement of Chechen, Ossetian-Ingush, Georgian-Abkhaz, Tskhinvali (Georgian-Ossetian) conflicts, activities of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the development of relations with Russia, Georgia, Türkiye and Iran were analyzed. It was concluded that the great leader Heydar Aliyev carried out extensive activities to turn the Caucasus region into a zone of peace. To do this, first of all he advocated an end to the interference of states in each other's internal affairs, to stop conflicts, and put forward a number of initiatives. He believed that after the settlement of conflicts, the countries and peoples of the Caucasus can cooperate in both bilateral and multilateral formats. The book is intended for regional scientists, political scientists, historians, diplomats, politicians, students, masters, as well as to a wide range of readers interested in the political and statehood activities of great leader Heydar Aliyev. In the book “Heydar Aliyev and the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan” written by Doctor of historical sciences, professor Gasim Hajiyev, the activities of the world-famous great political figure Heydar Aliyev, who had an important position in the history of our statehood, who could pursue realistic and pragmatic, convincing foreign policy, and activities against Armenia’s unfounded territorial claims, military aggression, Armenian separatism and ensuring the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan were studied. The scientific adviser of the book is president of ANAS, academician Isa Habibeyli, scientific editor is full member of ANAS, doctor of historical sciences, professor Ismayil Hajiyev, reviewers are doctor of historical sciences, professor Irada Huseynova and doctor of historical sciences, professor Karim Shukurov. For the first time in the monograph “Oil factor in the Azerbaijani policy of Great Britain (1991-2022)” published in Russian by PhD in history Gunel Musayeva, the oil factor in the Azerbaijani policy of Great Britain was studied on the basis of sources and literature in different languages. The monograph examines the place and role of the oil factor in the British policy of Azerbaijan in 1991-2022, interprets, analyzes and compares the position of the British government on the issue of Armenian military aggression, the liberation of territories as a result of 44 days war. Printed materials of the republician scientific conference “Heydar Aliyev: issues of peace and cooperation in the Caucasus” were also presented at the round table. Foreign researchers also participated at the conference, despite it was at a country level. Speaking at the event, executive director of the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of ANAS, doctor of historical sciences Eynulla Madatli, Head of Aliyev studies department at the İnstitute of History named after A.A.Bakikhanov, doctor of historical sciences Adalat Gasimov, PhD in history, associate professor Afshan Shafiyeva, UNEC researcher Hamid Ahmadli, Deputy Director of the Institute of the Caucasus Studies on scientific affairs, doctor of political sciences, associate professor Ramila Dadashova, heads of departments doctor of historical sciences, professor Gasim Hajiyev, doctor of philosophy, doctor of philosophy in history Gunel Musayeva, doctor of philosophy in political sciences Samira Habibbayli shared their views on the books and said that they are valuable and great contribution to Azerbaijani science.
