The victims of the March 31- Genocide were commemorated

On March 30  the round table dedicated to the March 31 day of genocide of Azerbaijanis was held at the Institute of Caucasus Studies. Chief director of the Institute, corresponding member of ANAS, Professor Musa Gasımlı opened the round table with an introductory speech. First of all, the memory of the victims of the genocide was commemorated with a minute’s silence. M.Gasımlı talked about the reasons and goals of the March genocide, which is one of the heaviest and most terrible genocides in the history of our nation. He said that after National Leader Heydar Aliyev’s historical  decree many new facts and documents have been collected in the result of researches. Then, the executive director of the Institute, doctor of political sciences, associate professor Ramila Dadashova, head of the department, Doctor of Philosophy in History, associate professor Elnur Kalbizade, and the chairman of the Trade Union Organization of the Institute, Yegane Bakhshiyeva,  talked about the mass brutal killing of Azerbaijanis and the destruction of cultural and historical monuments by the Baku Soviet and Dashnak Armenian armed groups, in March 1918 in Baku and in various regions of Baku province, as well as in Shamakhi, Guba and in other areas.
