Main scientific directions of the department

•Objective study of the history of peoples and states that have had a place and role in the history of the Caucasus since ancient times, based on ancient sources and historiography;

•Study of the historical and geographical area covered by the South Caucasus, its natural and geographical conditions, its ancient ethnoses, peoples and the states they created, as well as interstate relations;

•Study of the states created by the Azerbaijani and Georgian peoples and their mutual relations with neighboring peoples and states;

•Study of the place and role of Azerbaijan in the history of the South Caucasus, starting from ancient times, and its relations with neighboring peoples and states.
